Cultural Opportunities offered at Clive School

At Clive School we believe it is important to develop the ‘whole child’.

We encourage and assist students in taking up playing a musical instrument or participating in the School Choir or Speech & Drama lessons.

Kapa Haka

Clive School offers all students the opportunity to participate in kapa haka.

An elective group plays a significant role in representing the school at fairs, formal events and production evenings.

Choir

Year 4, 5 and 6 students have the opportunity to audition for the School Choir.

This motivated group of singers perform throughout the year at local venues and school events.

Ukulele Lessons

Year 5 and 6 students attend compulsory lessons which are funded by the Board of Trustees.

Lessons occur during class time.

Guitar & Ukulele Lessons (optional)

Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 students have the opportunity to participate in lessons.

A ‘specialised teacher’ takes these lessons, they are not compulsory and are paid for by parents/caregivers.

The lessons take place during class time.

Speech & Drama Lessons (optional)

Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 students have the opportunity to participate in lessons.

A ‘specialised teacher’ takes these lessons, they are not compulsory and are paid for by parents/caregivers.

Te Reo

The importance of developing knowledge and confidence in Māori culture is recognised by Clive School and delivered through a range of mediums within classroom programmes.

Students and Staff are committed to regular lessons focussing on participation, pronunciation and appreciation of Māori culture. Knowledge and confidence in Te Reo Māori is developed through waiata, kanikani and visual art.
